While watching the Oscars Sunday night I was struck by two things.

One was the might and power of the Great American Entertainment Machine and the other was the subdued tone of the ceremony with regards to the usual left wing propaganda that we normally see.

They got back to the basics with Hugh Jackman and the production came off extremely well as a result. Very slick, professional, glitzy and ritzy.

One thought that did strike me was that this whole crowd is so left wing I might just make a movie next year on my hand held camera about two gay guys that want to adopt a kid and get married, but must first overcome numerous obstacles, including job discrimination and some of their friends dying from AIDS.

Figure this would be a sure-shot for an Oscar since it hit all the right notes!

Speaking of the right notes! Why did Sean Penn go on a trip to Iran when it is common knowledge that the movie “Milk” would never get played there and the main character, Harvey Milk, would probably get executed for being homosexual. Something doesn’t make sense!

The next subject was about a quote I heard on the TV today where a guy said; “I would much rather be an Arab in Israel than a Jew in some other Middle East country!”

This struck a chord with me since I know some people who have gone to work in Saudi Arabia, and from what they tell me if there was no need for Western know-how most of the Saudi’s would be perfectly happy banning all non-Muslims from ever setting foot in their country.

This got me to thinking about England and how Muslims there are demonstrating again and waving signs and placards that say some very disturbing things about Western Society!

And on a final note there seems to be less confrontational rhetoric out of Russia since Obama took office.

Have you noticed that the plan to put U.S. missiles in what used to be Eastern Europe against an “Islamic” attack has been quietly shelved and suddenly Putin is back on speaking terms with the West!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. They should let Russia join NATO and this would automatically solve the vast majority of the irritants between them and the rest of Europe.
